2.3m register for welfare | Bangkok Post: news

(Bangkok Post file photo)Almost 2.3 million low-income earners have registered to be eligible for future state welfare programmes in the first five days of the second round of registration, according to the Fiscal Policy Office. Registrations will continue until May 15 at state-run banks and provincial treasury offices. The Finance Ministry has estimated that at least 10 million people will register, up from 8.27 million last year. To be eligible for welfare and subsidy programmes, applicants must be unemployed or have earned annual income of no more than 100,000 baht last year.
